Extract Boot Image from ...

I'm looking for an explanation of what is means to me..i.e. what might I do with it. By implication, it sounds like I can take any bootable CD (regardless of OS) and extract only that part of the image that provides the ability to boot without any other part of the CD or it's data. Is that true?

Hi,
yes that features means that if you have an ISO or CD/DVD that is bootable, it will extract the boot sector and save it to file.

Directly from the man page of "geteltorito":
geteltorito is a Perl script which extracts the initial/default El Torito boot image from a CD if one exists.
It will not extract any of other boot images that are allowed by the El Torito standard.

Cool. Thanks for the reply
